Some Congolese follow a movement called La Sape - a cult of appearance - considered to have originated with singer Papa Wemba. It was meant to defy Zaire's then President Mobutu Sese Seko, who ordered people to wear traditional African clothes. South African based Kenyan Photo-Journalist Anthony Kaminju spent time with some Congolese migrants in South Africa and documented a fashion show they had organised to improve relations between them and the local population after the attacks on foreigners earlier this year.
